For all of it’s social programs and efforts to be on the knife’s edge of the societal progressiveness, few places have existed as a democracy whilst being so oppressive. Charity here is a facade as is the conscience of the people gathered to facilitate it. Great talks are had in the thrones of night clubs and brunch tables by the bay. The thing is… I don’t think they actually believe it. But they’ll never say. They pay too much to be a part of these prices.
SoCal is a picture of America taken with a Polaroid. Slightly out of focus and only one side of the story. The side that missed the point. But it looks cool. When MLK dreamed of people viewed for the content of their character, he mistakingly assumed the existence of content. I’ve been to street corners with more character than this entire city.
